Copy Editing & Proofreading Services for Businesses, Publishers, and Nonfiction Authors
My mission is to support businesses and nonfiction authors in communicating with clarity and confidence—helping them present their ideas professionally, connect meaningfully with their audiences, and achieve the success they envision.
Clear communication is at the heart of every project I take on. I work closely with individuals and businesses to ensure their written content is carefully proofread and thoughtfully refined, all while providing a smooth, professional experience from start to finish.
My goal is to enhance clarity and conciseness without ever compromising your unique voice. Every document is treated with discretion and complete confidentiality, and each project is delivered on time, according to our agreed-upon deadline.
Hi, I’m David.
I’ve loved language for as long as I can remember. There’s something deeply satisfying about a sentence that flows just right—clear, precise, and effortless to read. Long before I ever called myself a proofreader or copy editor, I was the person friends and classmates handed their papers to with a hopeful, “Can you take a look at this?”
That simple beginning turned into more than twenty years of helping people say what they mean—cleanly and confidently.
Today, I work with authors, publishers, and businesses who care about getting it right. I serve as a copy editor for the Fretboard Journal, where I help shape and polish feature articles for print, and I partner with Scholastic to refine educational marketing materials with accuracy and care. Through my freelance work, I’ve collaborated with more than 50 clients on books, articles, and business communications—each project different, each voice deserving respect.
What matters most to me isn’t just catching misplaced commas or smoothing awkward phrasing (though I do love that part). It’s protecting your voice while making your message stronger, noticing the small inconsistencies others might miss, fact-checking the details so your readers never have to question them, and delivering work you can feel proud to put your name on.
I’m a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, the Freelancers Union, and Distributed Proofreaders, where I contribute to the preservation of public-domain texts in partnership with Project Gutenberg. Being part of these communities keeps me connected to both the craft and the larger purpose behind it.
When I’m not editing, you’ll usually find me playing guitar, reading a good book, watching movies with my family, camping, or sauntering through the woods. I believe good writing—like good music—has rhythm. And I bring that sense of rhythm to every page I edit.
If you’re looking for an editor who is thoughtful, thorough, and genuinely invested in your work, I’d love to be part of your next project.
